Gilderoy Lockhart is a major antagonist of J.K. Rowling's 1998 novel Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, its 2002 film adaptation of the same name, and a minor character in Rowling's 2003 novel Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
He is a famous author and formerly a Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Behind his alleged feats, however, Lockhart is nothing more than a fraud author who only seeks fame and brainwashes people into telling them their stories so he can pass them as his own.
